Following up our session with industry veteran Stephen Hey, me and my group held a meeting the next day and discussed the main type of demographic that our game is targeted towards – the importance of knowing that the target demographic is crucial to our game’s success because we would know exactly the type of player we would be aiming our game towards.
The core game mechanics of my IP are as follows: stealth, AI NPCs, magic possession mechanics, potion usage, dialogue and grabbing. We also discussed what role the core game loops would play into deciding the main type of target demographic. Eventually we decided that the main demographic we were going to target was the story teller demographic, however we also discussed the possibility that there were some elements that would appeal to the strategy king demographic because of the requirement to strategise how you are going to complete a quest and go around the obsitcles provided.
